Tuesday

Good morning ladies and gentlemen!

Please turn in your Citation Homework to the basket BEFORE the bell.

REMINDER: If you are still working on your literary analysis, remember to come in TODAY during break/lunch. Remember to turn in any borrowed books when you are done!!

MATERIALS TODAY: Editorial organizers and a pen/pencil

Today's Agenda:

1. Warm up: take out your organizers and decide what type of opening would be most effective for your piece. HINT- think about what TONE you want to establish for your piece

2. Review- Effective and Ineffective Introductions
3. Teacher Model-Introduction paragraph
3. Group work:

In your groups, you will work on writing the introduction to your editorial. Follow these steps with your group members-

A. Brainstorm with your group members how you should introduce your topic
B. write your introduction (remember-this is a rough draft so it does not need to be perfect today)
C. After you're done writing the draft of your introduction, each group member must read the introduction of a fellow group member and offer CONSTRUCTIVE feedback. Consider these questions:

-Did the introduction grab your attention? How could they hook readers more?
-What kind of opener did they use?
-Do they introduce the topic?
-Ask them why they chose this topic!

BY THE END OF TODAY YOU SHOULD HAVE A DRAFT OF YOUR INTRODUCTION COMPLETED.

HW: Fill in the background information portion and opinion statement of your organizer. What information will your readers need to know about your topic? Assume they know nothing about your topic. DUE WEDNESDAY
